Bruce Willis has settled a lawsuit filed against his childhood friend over allegations the man tried to extort at least $100,000 from him, Willis’ publicist said. The lawsuit filed in August accused Bruce DiMattia, who was hired to maintain Willis’ personal items and memorabilia, of extortion and violation of privacy. The lawsuit claimed DiMattia “was overcome by greed and jealous of his former friend’s success” and threatened to disclose personal information about the star unless Willis bought him a car and paid him $100,000. Willis’ publicist Paul Bloch issued a statement that said Willis and DiMattia had reached a settlement and that their dispute was “amicably resolved.”"The filing of the lawsuit by Bruce Willis against Bruce DiMattia was based on a regrettable misunderstanding and was based on misinformation,” the statement said. “Bruce Willis wishes Bruce DiMattia the best of luck in the future and Bruce DiMattia wishes him the same.”

Madonna will not face prosecution for blasphemy in the Netherlands over imagery she used in two concerts in Amsterdam last year. She was seen to kneel and take off a crown of thorns against the backdrop of a crucifix, prompting calls from members of the Protestant SGP party for charges to be brought against her. But a spokesperson for Amsterdam’s prosecutor’s office says, “The pop singer Madonna will not be prosecuted for blasphemy and insulting faith. The prosecutor’s office believes that through her show, the singer on all the evidence tried to express her frustrations about certain situations in the world, it is not a question of contempt for God. Furthermore, Madonna did not discredit Christians as a group.”

After Donald Trump almost made Miss USA Tara Conner turn in her tiara over her hard-partying ways, the two have deemed it inappropriate for her to pose nude. A million dollars isn’t enough to get the recently rehabbed beauty queen Conner to bare all for Playboy. Trump and Conner negotiated with Playboy but ultimately turned down the magazine’s offer for her to pose nude, Trump’s office confirmed. The controversial Miss USA made headlines in December when pageant boss Trump almost made her turn in her tiara over her hard-partying ways, then relented on the condition that she seek treatment. Conner recently completed a stint in a Pennsylvania rehabilitation facility. Earlier this month, Trump announced that Playboy was considering Conner for its cover and that he was still considering the offer. Trump also said that if Conner did pose, it would be “Playboy-lite”, or not entirely nude. But now negotiations have ended. “She just didn’t feel it was appropriate. She will not be doing Playboy,” said Trump spokeswoman Rhona Graff. Conner is expected to discuss the Playboy offer during an upcoming live interview with Matt Lauer on NBC’s ‘Today’ show. Miss Nevada Katie Rees, who lost her crown over raunchy photos showing her semi-nude and kissing other women would welcome an offer from Playboy. She said she is looking to cash in on the scandal.”I’m cashing in on my experience, trying to make the most of it,” Rees, told the TV show ‘Extra’ recently. As for Conner being offered a cool million to pose for Playboy, Rees laughed, “A million! I wasn’t offered a million dollars. I’m going to hold out.”

The photojournalist fighting Anna Nicole Smith for paternity of her baby daughter claims he was stunned when she dumped him and flew off to the Bahamas, because he felt sure they were committed to each other. Larry Birkhead claims Smith was talking about marrying him and the couple were making big plans to become parents when he suddenly discovered she no longer wanted him to be a part of her life. Birkhead says, “One day I’m in a store buying maternity clothes and helping her while she’s sick. The night before she left, I bought her $200 worth of desserts and she ploughed through them in 20 minutes because she was having cravings.”"I enjoyed it. I liked helping her. I felt like we were actually getting somewhere at that point. We were both happy. We talked about, you know, the baby. You know, every night she’d make me sing songs to her, the baby, in the belly before she went to sleep. I tried to get her out of her pain and discomfort. And I did everything I could.” Birkhead launched a paternity suit against Smith and her new partner, Howard K. Stern, last year, and has so far spent $300,000 in legal fees trying to force Smith to agree to a DNA test on the baby.A test deadline came and went last week as Smith and her legal team demanded a delay. Jennifer Lopez’s first husband, Ojani Noa, was ordered to enter arbitration with her over his plans for a tell-all book about their brief marriage. Lopez filed a Superior Court breach of contract suit nine months ago and got a restraining order barring Noa from publishing intimate details of their sex life. She also asked for arbitration. Noa’s ghostwritten book alleges Lopez had multiple affairs, including one with her third and current husband Marc Anthony, court documents revealed.”This is about my life, coming here from Cuba and falling in love with Jennifer,” Noa claims. Superior Court Judge Victor H. Person agreed with Lopez’s lawyer, Paul N. Sorrell, that Noa was bound to arbitration under terms of an October 2005 settlement of another lawsuit. Noa, who showed up in court again without a lawyer, objected to the arbitration order, saying he wanted the benefit of a public trial of the case.”Basically, they were trying to damage my name and my career, now they want to go private in arbitration,” Noa told the judge.”Lopez has made every effort to keep the details of the dispute private, but had to go public with her lawsuit in order to get a preliminary injunction against Noa,” Sorrell said. Lopez’s damages could be in excess of $10 million if the book is published, the attorney said. In the previous lawsuit, Noa sued Lopez for breach-of-contract, alleging she lured him into taking a managerial job in 2002 at her Pasadena restaurant, then fired him five months later. Lopez married Noa in February 1997 after meeting him in a Miami restaurant. They divorced 11 months later.

The dancers working on Beyonce’s latest videos are being low-balled on their salaries in order to make the videos on the cheap, a source claims. Sources say that Beyonce is shooting several music videos in Los Angeles this week, which she may be financing, not her label. Sources also say Beyonce’s choreographer, Frank Gatson, has refused to work with any of the dancers’ agents on this job. By eliminating the middleman and dealing directly with the dancers, Beyonce can pay them below standard wages. Industry contacts say this practice is highly irregular for an artist of Beyonce’s stature, and it undermines the dance industry as a whole. Sources learned that in order to maintain good working relationships, the production company for the project, RSA Films, has recently agreed to pay agency fees for some of the dancers. Usually, a dancer cast in a video can earn around $3000 for two rehearsal days and two shoot-days of work. Without agents fighting for their rights, the dancers on Beyonce’s latest videos will earn less. While some dancers have boycotted the job, others, willing to go around their agents, have been flown to Los Angeles and put up at hotels to work for the lower rates, just to say they danced for a megastar like Beyonce. Since music videos are not covered under union rules, Beyonce is not violating regulations, but she is not in sync with Dancers’ Alliance, an organization created by dancers to standardize non-union work.

Friends of Isaiah Washington are saying he’s not anti-gay because for years, he got angry at everybody. The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star entered a 30-day anger management program after ABC execs met with him for calling fellow cast member T.R. Knight a gay slur. Veteran stage actress Madeline McCray was there when, a source says, Washington punched out a fellow actor. At the time, McCray and Washington were starring in August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Fences.”"Isaiah’s not anti-gay; he’s a hothead,” McCray told us. “It’s that his anger leads him to say and do things he wishes he hadn’t, to everybody. He’s always had a lack of control over his temper.”I worked with Isaiah, and there were some difficulties. He lost his temper and had a physical altercation with one of the other male actors backstage. The actor missed his cue a couple of times, and Isaiah couldn’t control himself.”Isaiah wants it to be perfect. He is a professional, and he expects everybody else to be on their mark, too. “But when we’re adults, we can’t just allow our anger to get the best of us. He’s got to get a handle on it. He’s jeopardizing the incredible opportunity he’s been given, a distinguished role in a hit show created by an African-American woman.” Washington also became angry in 2000 with his co-star, director and producer Tracey Edmonds on the set of ‘Soul Food.’ In addition, he lost a job on ‘High Incident’ in 1997 after an altercation with a crew member that resulted in the police being called, according to a source. McCray thinks entering anger management is the best thing that ever happened to Washington.”I’m just really happy that he’s going to stand up and take responsibility and fix this,”she said.

Paris Hilton filed a federal lawsuit seeking to shut down a web site that displays personal photos, videos, diaries, and other belongings once kept at a storage facility. The web site was launched last week claiming the items were auctioned off after Hilton neglected to pay the Los Angeles-area storage facility. It also promises visitors who pay a fee, access to Hilton’s passport, medical records and other legal documents. In her lawsuit, Hilton said she put her possessions in storage two years ago when she and her sister, Nicky, moved out of a house that had been burglarized.Hilton said a moving company was supposed to pay the storage fees and was “shocked and surprised” to learn her belongings were sold at a public auction.”I was appalled to learn that people are exploiting my and my sisters’ private personal belongings for commercial gain,” Hilton said in a declaration supporting the lawsuit, adding she was concerned the information could be used for identity theft or harassment. The lawsuit alleges defendants Nabil and Nabila Haniss paid $2,775 for the contents of the storage unit and later sold the items for $10 million to entrepreneur Bardia Persa, who created the site. Hilton’s publicist Elliot Mintz said that she would like the site shut down and “would like all of these items returned to her.”

The California Highway Patrol recommended that Brandy be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in a freeway crash that killed a woman motorist last month, a city attorney’s spokesman said. The CHP referred the matter to the city attorney’s office for review, said spokesman Nick Velasquez.”The office is currently reviewing the case and determining whether the evidence warrants the filing of a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter,” Velasquez said. “The charge carries a maximum sentence of one year in the county jail and a $1,000 fine,” Velasquez said. Prosecutors couldn’t say when they would make a decision about whether to bring a case. “If charged, Brandy wouldn’t necessarily have to appear in court and could have her lawyer enter a plea,” Velasquez said. “Brandy has publicly expressed condolences to the victim’s family,” Brandy’s publicist, Courtney Barnes said last week. Barnes also has said Brandy wasn’t under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. Brandy was driving a Land Rover on Interstate 405 on Dec. 30 when traffic slowed and her vehicle struck the back of the 2005 Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj, according to a CHP report. Aboudihaj’s car hit another vehicle, slid sideways into the center divider and was then hit by another car, the report said. Aboudihaj died at a hospital from blunt-force injuries, according to the coroner’s office.

Yoko Ono’s former chauffeur claimed that his alleged threats to kill her if she refused to give him $2million in hush money were badly misunderstood. “When Ono’s driver Koral Karsan told her lawyer ‘there were a lot of people out there who wanted to get” her’, he wasn’t referring to trained assassins,” his lawyer said. “Karsan meant his psychiatrist, dentist and lawyer,” his lawyer Robert Gottlieb claimed. Gottlieb said his client only meant that the lawyer would represent Karsan in a sexual harassment suit against Ono and the dentist and psychiatrist would testify on his behalf. The dentist would tell a jury, according to Gottlieb, that Ono put Karsan under “such stress that he grinds his teeth at night and that eight have fallen out.”"They are all Beatle fans and they hate her so they all want to use me,” Karsan told a lawyer for Ono during a meeting last month, according to a videotape of the conversation. Claiming his client’s words were taken out of context by authorities, Gottlieb asked that Karsan be granted bail. But Supreme Court Justice Daniel FitzGerald didn’t buy the argument and said no, for the fifth time.”No judge would be comfortable in releasing him or confident he would return,” the judge said. Karsan, a Turkish immigrant, was arrested last month, days after authorities say he gave Ono a blackmail letter. Prosecutors have said they believe that Karsan, who had been a trusted member of Ono’s staff for 10 years, would flee the country if he’s granted bail. The judge set a hearing for Feb. 2 to determine when Karsan’s trial will begin.

Eddie Murphy avoided the London premiere of ‘Dreamgirls’ because he was scared of Mel B fans, it has been alleged. Murphy won the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for his role in the film, but didn’t promote the movie in the UK because he didn’t want to be confronted by Spice Girls fans who were angry at the way he dumped pregnant Mel. A source claimed: “London is her turf, and Eddie knows Mel has a loyal fan base. He’s afraid their reaction to him won’t be good because of what he did to her.”Murphy publicly dumped six-months-pregnant Mel on a Dutch talk show and has demanded a paternity test to prove he is the father of her baby. A spokesman for Murphy said: “He very much wanted to come to the premiere. Eddie not attending the UK premiere of ‘Dreamgirls’ had nothing to do with Ms. Brown or anything else. He was looking forward to going.”His representative said obligations to his film, ‘Norbit,’ which is being released on February 9, prevented him from attending the London premiere of ‘Dreamgirls.’ A spokesman for Mel B said: “The reason that the whole issue has been so public is because Eddie, for reasons best known to him, decided to discuss his relationship with Melanie in the media. Melanie had no idea that he was speaking to the media, so the whole thing was a terrible shock.”
