Lindsay Lohan reached a plea deal on misdemeanor drunken driving and cocaine charges that calls for her to spend one day in jail, serve 10 days of community service and complete a drug treatment program. She was also placed on 36 months probation, is required to complete an 18-month alcohol education program, pay hundreds of dollars in fines and must complete a three-day county coroner program in which she’ll visit a morgue and talk to victims of drunken drivers.”It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs,” Lohan said in a statement released by her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik. She said she did things she was ashamed of. “I broke the law and today I took responsibility by pleading guilty to the charges in my case.”"Shes getting what everyone else would get,” Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers said after an hourlong hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge H. Chester Horn Jr.’s courtroom. “If Lohan were to be convicted of another DUI, she would receive a mandatory 120-day jail sentence,” Meyers said. “If she violates her probation in any way,” Meyers added, “she could face even more time behind bars: up to a year on each of the drunk-driving and cocaine charges and 90 days on the reckless-driving charge.”"If she violates, it really is up to the judge to determine the specific sentence,” Meyers said. Lohan has until Jan. 18, 2008, to complete her jail time, community service and residential drug-rehabilitation program. She must also show proof of enrollment in the 18-month alcohol-education program required of all second-time drunken-driving offenders by that January date.”No matter what I said when I was under the influence on the day I was arrested, I am not blaming anyone else for my conduct other than myself. I thank God I did not injure others. I easily could have,” Lohan’s statement went on. Lohan was charged with seven misdemeanors stemming from two drunken-driving arrests in the last four months. More serious felony drug charges were not filed, prosecutors said, because tests showed there wasn’t enough cocaine on her to warrant them. Attorney Blair Berk entered pleas on Lohan’s behalf: she pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine; no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08 percent and one count of reckless driving. Two counts of driving under the influence were dropped. The judge sentenced Lohan to 96 hours in jail, the mandatory minimum for a second drunken-driving offense. Lohan was given credit for 24 hours already served, and she elected to complete 10 days of community service instead of 48 hours behind bars, an option available to all two-time DUI offenders. “She still must serve the balance of her sentence, 24 hours, in city or county jail,” Meyers said.

Lindsay Lohan, who has seen her promising film career plummet recently, escaped felony charges when prosecutors filed seven misdemeanor counts against her stemming from two drunken-driving arrests. The district attorney charged Lohan with two counts each of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08 percent and being under the influence of cocaine and one count of reckless driving. Police found cocaine on Lohan during the arrests on May 26 in Beverly Hills and July 24 in Santa Monica. In each incident, the amounts tested were below the .05 grams required for felony charges, according to the district attorney’s office. Sources say there were also problems proving Lohan was in possession of the drug. Each of Lohan’s arrests were followed by trips to rehab. Lohan crashed her Mercedes Benz into a tree on Sunset Boulevard in May and fled the scene to seek medical treatment. Police tests revealed that a white powder in Lohan’s purse was .04 grams of cocaine. Lohan checked into the exclusive Promises rehabilitation facility after the incident. She left the facility July 13 after six weeks of treatment. She was photographed wearing an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet after her release. Within days, she was involved in yet another bizzarre alcohol and drug related incident. In the second case, a law enforcement source says the manner in which the cocaine was seized was questionable. In addition, the source says the amount of cocaine “didn’t meet the threshold for filing.” “The D.A. always looks at the person and the circumstances and in Lohan’s case, the fact that she was arrested twice in a short period of time actually helped her. It shows someone is struggling with an addiction problem.” “The fact that each time she was arrested, she immediately checked into a rehab facility also helped her case. Also, her age and the fact that her upbringing was extremely unstable, also worked in her favor.”

Country star Wynonna Judd was left in a state of shock when she found out her husband D.R. Roach was arrested for aggravated sexual battery against a minor earlier this year. Judd couldn’t believe her husband of four years was involved in such activity. She describes her reaction as one of “disbelief and shock,” adding, “These are things that you read about and see on the news about people, and you think to yourself, ‘Never in my family.’” Judd still has contact with her husband, and is finding it tough to stop wearing her wedding ring. She says, “It is hard to just detach overnight. I’m healing in my own time. And so I do wear my ring. We see each other and communicate through our lawyers and mediator. There are still personal and professional details to make decisions about.” The couple, who married in 2003, had been estranged since December, and Roach entered rehab to battle alcoholism in February.

Isaiah Washington is upset over a TV interview in which he seemed to poke fun at former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ co-star Patrick Dempsey for not sticking up for him in the aftermath of his gay slur scandal. Washington was arguing with Dempsey on the set of the show last year when he uttered the slur, which sparked a major controversy. The comment led to co-star T.R. Knight ‘coming out’ as a gay man, but Washington has always maintained the slur wasn’t directed at Knight. In a TV interview on ‘Access Hollywood,’ host Billy Bush asked Washington if he felt Dempsey should have spoken up for him. Bush asked, “Dempsey, it seems to me, could’ve cleared everything up by standing up and saying one thing, ‘Isaiah never said that to T.R., I was there.’ If he’s a friend, how could he not do that?” Washington replied, “Nice observation Billy. He protects himself well. He did what he felt he needed to do and remained silent.” Now, Washington, who was fired from the show earlier this summer, is upset with the way the TV interview was edited, making it look as if he blames Dempsey for his firing. Bush says, “My only regret is that due to time on our show, in the edited interview, we went straight to the outrage and it came off as if I was berating Patrick.”"Not the case. I should have fought for the extra time. I am quite sure that Isaiah is difficult on the set, a perfectionist that compares himself to others. It’s divisive, but frankly, this town has plenty of difficult actors. The legends are there. He means well.”

A Los Angeles judge has issued a temporary restraining order that prevents the release of a 1994 videotape documenting a breast augmentation surgery for Anna Nicole Smith. Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff granted the order at the request of Smith’s former attorney and executor of her will, Howard K. Stern. The injunction prevents the sale, distribution or dissemination of the videotape. In court documents, Stern accused Gerald Wayne Johnson, the Texas doctor who performed the surgery, of sending a tape showing the procedure to Thomas Riccio, a Los Angeles-based memorabilia dealer. Stern claims the surgery was taped without Smith’s consent. Smith died in Florida in February at the age of 39. Johnson claims he routinely records surgeries with the patient’s permission and promises to keep the video confidential “during the patient’s lifetime.” Johnson said he gave Riccio permission to use the video after Smith died. Stern claims Johnson’s wife and Riccio would share in any proceeds from the sale of the videotape to various media outlets.

Kali Bowyer, the woman alleging comic Chris Rock is the father of her teenage son is refusing to give up her paternity fight, despite a negative first DNA test. Rock and his wife Malaak released a statement, proclaiming victory in the legal battle and criticizing Bowyer for claiming Rock was the father. But Bower insists the proceedings are far from over. Bowyer says, “We are taking a second test, due to Rock’s history of past paternity tests.” Bowyer claims she is one of a handful of women who have brought paternity cases against Rock, and one European woman is still charging him with fathering her child, even though she lost her case in court.Bowyer also denies claims Rock made in his statement that she took money for selling her story to the tabloids earlier this year. She says, “No one made money from selling stories to the tabloids.” Bowyer is upset that Rock and his wife went public with the findings of the first DNA test while there was a court order in place instructing both parties not to discuss the case with the media. Bowyer says, “There is a protective order regarding the results, so I will let my lawyers deal with the current situation. As for the second DNA test, Chris, myself and our lawyers have to meet for mediation within 20 days. If he agrees to take the DNA test then, I see him do it and it comes back negative, I’ll move on.” Bowyer claims she never planned to go public with her 10-year-old paternity battle but is desperate to get to the bottom of her 13-year-old son’s health problems and feels sure the medical history of the boy’s father will help her to get the answers she needs. She says, “I never said Chris Rock is 100 per cent the father of my child, but, due to the dates and the information I received from doctors when my son was born, I’m 99 per cent sure Chris Rock is the father. He looks exactly like Chris’ brother Tony, it’s a very distinctive resemblance.”

A Mexican judge has ruled to close the criminal case against bounty hunter and TV reality star Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman, but state prosecutors have appealed the decision, officials said. In the ruling, Judge Jose Alberto Montes said the statute of limitations has expired on the case, said Guillermo Diaz, assistant prosecutor in Puerto Vallarta. Chapman was arrested by U.S. authorities on a Mexican warrant stemming from his 2003 capture of fugitive convicted rapist and Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster in Puerto Vallarta. Bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico. State prosecutors want to continue pursuing Mexico’s request to have Chapman extradited, Diaz said. The courts are expected to rule on prosecutors’ appeal in coming months. Britney Spears threw a baby bottle and threatened two photographers after they took pictures of her leaving a Las Vegas spa, the photographers claim in a statement. Spears yelled, “I am going to kill you!” and cursed at Andrew Deetz, a photographer who says he was beaten by Spears’ bodyguard according to a statement released by Deetz’s lawyers. “Deetz is preparing to sue,” his lawyers said. The other photographer involved was Kyle Henderson. They both work for a celebrity photography company called Flynet Pictures, according to Daniel Kogan, a spokesman for Deetz’s lawyers. The photographers were taking pictures of Spears as she and her children left the spa at the Wynn Las Vegas casino-hotel accompanied by two bodyguards. “One bodyguard, Cesar Julio Camera pushed Henderson against the wall until Wynn security intervened and asked Henderson to leave,” the statement said. “As they were about 30 paces away and walking in the opposite direction, Camera attacked Deetz from behind, threw him on the ground and punched and kicked him until security pulled him off,” the statement said. “Afterward, Spears ran toward Henderson but was stopped by security, and then she threw a baby bottle at him,” it said. “Then, in front of several other hotel guests and bystanders, Spears threatened to kill Deetz and said he should get a restraining order against her because she was going to kill him or hire someone that would,” it said. Camera also previously confronted Deetz outside a boutique in Beverly Hills and told him, “I have unfinished business with you,” the statement alleged. Las Vegas police issued a summons for a charge of battery to Camera, the only person cited. He could face up to six months in county jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted.
